Introduction

This article presents the project execution plan for the Trancoso Truck Center, a road transport infrastructure developed to serve as a strategic logistics platform in the municipality. The project is located on a previously unoccupied plot of land, bordered by main road axes such as Avenida da República and Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian, strategically positioned close to essential services such as the courthouse, post office, and fire station.

Context and Need

The construction of this unit arises from the need to enhance the existing infrastructure in the municipality, functioning as a hub for various local activities. The chosen site, although unoccupied and well-located near the historical center, presented topographical challenges with steep slopes between the elevations of the road and the terrain.

The project responds to the socio-cultural constraints of a region with a rich history, seeking to modernize the provision of services without neglecting the roots and memories of Trancoso. The intervention also aimed to optimize the circulation and flow of vehicle traffic, facilitating the movement of passengers and minimizing the impact of vehicles on the surrounding area.

Summary of the Project Completed

The architectural proposal is materialized through a composition of vertical planes that define strategic visual axes, ensuring a constant connection with historical landmarks such as the Dinisian Walls and the Prado Gates.

• Spatial Organization and Program: The building includes an arrival and departure dock with capacity for 6 buses. The program includes atriums, ticket offices, public service areas, secretariat, waiting rooms, and accessible restrooms, totaling a gross construction area of ​​726.7 m2 on a 2528 m2 lot.
• Integration with the Site: The project takes advantage of the steep slope to highlight and elevate the program zones, allowing for better visual connection with the bus dock. An internal green space was also included to enjoy the entire program.
• Materiality and Design: The choice of materials focuses on the contrast between the traditional and the contemporary:
• Regional granite stone: Direct connection to the historical walls.
• Exposed concrete: Used in the foundation to convey the typical robustness of the region.
• Glass facades: Add transparency and depth, allowing thin roof planes to appear to “levitate” above the structure.
• Efficiency and Compliance: The plan was developed to ensure efficient user circulation and energy resource use, while adhering to all legal accessibility and safety standards.
