Projects for the connecting road from National Road 328 to Nossa Senhora da Saúde and the access road to the Algeriz Industrial Park, and the redesign of Rua do Guardal

Municipality of Vale de Cambra

Introduction

We are pleased to present the Execution Project for the new EN328 connecting road to Nossa Senhora da Saúde, a crucial development for mobility and quality of life in the municipality of Vale de Cambra. This approximately 870-meter infrastructure project represents an effort to create a more efficient and safe road axis, optimizing accessibility to a key area of the community. Our team was responsible for preparing all the necessary project specialties for the execution of this work.

Context and Need for the Project

The intervention area is located in the parish of São Pedro de Castelões and is currently characterized by the presence of green areas and vegetation. The fundamental need for this project arises from the search for a more direct and functional road connection between National Road 328 (EN328) and the Nossa Senhora da Saúde Park.

The absence of a structured axis hindered efficient access to the park and the surrounding road network. Therefore, the project was driven by the need to:

The development of this implementation project was based on an approved Preliminary Study and a detailed characterization of the existing situation, carried out through site visits and coordination with the Vale de Cambra Municipal Council.

What Was Done: The Engineering Solution

The Execution Project translated the vision of the Preliminary Study into a robust and multifunctional technical solution.

The New Road Layout

The road axis begins with the construction of a junction on the EN328 and culminates in an elongated roundabout located to the north. This roundabout is essential to connect the new route to Rua do Mato Alto, Rua Sra. da Saúde, and the exit ramp from Parque da Nossa Senhora da Saúde, ensuring a smooth transition to the existing road network.

Cross-section and Functionalities

The cross-section of the new road was designed to serve all users, encompassing:

Specialties and Technical Details

In addition to the specialty of road design, our intervention included the development of the following areas:

  1. Paving: We defined the technical specifications for the new pavement layers, including the treatment of the connection to the EN328. In the specific case of the connection to the EN328, the work includes milling 11 cm of the existing bonding and wearing layers and the subsequent application of new bituminous layers to ensure structural continuity, using, for example, bituminous macadam (AC20 bin 35/50) and bituminous concrete (AC14 surf 35/50).
  2. Signage and Safety Equipment: Specification of all horizontal and vertical signage, as well as the safety equipment necessary for the safe operation of the road.

All development was carried out using cartography obtained through classical methods, with the geometry of the layout detailed in drawings (Plan and Longitudinal Profile) and typical cross-sectional profiles, ensuring the precision necessary for the execution phase of the work.

Our work on this project reflects our commitment to providing engineering solutions that not only meet current mobility needs, but also contribute to the development of more sustainable and integrated urban infrastructure.
