This article details the technical intervention carried out for waterproofing and rehabilitation of the water reservoirs located in Fonte Arcada and Escurquela. The project focused on the recovery of internal surfaces and the structural stabilization of degraded elements, ensuring the watertightness and hygiene of the storage infrastructure.

Context and Need

Over time, water storage infrastructure can show signs of wear, such as the accumulation of loose sand and oxidation of structural components. In these reservoirs, the need for deep cleaning and specialized treatment to eliminate moisture and correct signs of rust in the roof structure was identified. The intervention was essential to reinforce the surfaces and apply an effective protection system that would extend the lifespan of the assets.

Summary of the Project Completed

The technical methodology applied followed a rigorous preparation and waterproofing protocol:

• Preparation of the Enclosure: The process began with the emptying and ventilation of the reservoirs. An internal dehumidification system was used to completely eliminate moisture, allowing for the cleaning of loose sand from the floor, walls, and ceiling.
• Oxidation Treatment: All signs of rust detected in the ceiling structure were filled with the application of resin and fiberglass, stabilizing the structure before the finishing phase.
• Multilayer Waterproofing System:
  • Application of a special adhesion promoter to the entire interior surface (walls, floor, and ceiling).
  • Application of a 300 g/m² fiberglass mat layer.
  • Application of a 450 g/m² fiberglass mat layer.
• Finishing and Sealing: The process was completed with a final coat of white paint. In the specific case of the ceiling, the structuring of the sand was effectively resolved through the adhesion and final painting of Top-Coats, ensuring the integrity of the surfaces without the need for fiberglass application in this section.
