Sewer Network Expansion Project in the West Zone of Sernancelhe
Municipality of Sernancelhe

Introduction
This technical project details the execution of the sewage network expansion in the western region of the village of Sernancelhe. The intervention focuses on extending the basic sanitation infrastructure and renewing the water supply network, ensuring an integrated solution that includes the layout of collectors, rising mains, and pumping systems to serve the current and future population of this area.
Context and Need
The project’s necessity is based on providing basic sanitation for the western area, aiming to eliminate private septic tanks and cover new housing developments. The design was conceived to serve a population of 150 units (approximately 600 inhabitants). Simultaneously, the need to replace the existing water supply network was identified, preventing foreseeable ruptures during the opening of trenches for the new wastewater collectors.
Summary of the Project Completed
The implemented technical solution is divided into three fundamental areas:
- Sewer Network: Installation of approximately 1000 meters of PVC collectors with a minimum nominal diameter of 200 mm. Two new collectors were built to ensure domestic sewage collection, equipped with circular concrete manholes and 125 mm PVC building connection branches.
- Compact Pumping Station (EEC): Implementation of a prefabricated polyethylene unit with an anti-floating flange. The pumping station is equipped with two grinder pumps, stainless steel piping, level control by pressure switch with audible alarm, and a protected electrical control panel in a fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) cabinet.
- Water Supply and Paving Network: Replacement of water pipes with 63 mm PVC piping (class 1MPa), including shut-off valves, bottom drains, and irrigation markers. The project concluded with the complete replacement of the intervened pavements, using two configurations: one in bituminous layers and the other in granite cube paving over a sand cushion.
The intervention ensures self-cleaning flow velocities (between 0.60 and 3.00 m/s) and meets the minimum laying depth requirements to guarantee the stability and durability of all pipelines.
