Paving Project for Rua do Ameixial – São José da Lamarosa

Introduction
This article presents the execution project for the paving of Rua do Ameixial, located in São José da Lamarosa. The street represents a relevant communication axis in the municipal road network, establishing the connection between two streets. The project was developed from local topographic surveys carried out using classic methods and duly connected to the national geodetic network, guaranteeing the geometric accuracy necessary for the intervention.
Context and Need
The intervention on Rua do Ameixial arises from the need to improve the existing infrastructure to ensure optimal conditions for circulation, safety, and traffic flow. Before developing the solution, a thorough assessment was carried out of the state of conservation of the pavements, the cleanliness and regularity of the drainage systems (surface and depth), as well as the accessibility of public and private connections.
The central objective focused on providing the road with technical characteristics that allow for convenient and safe use, correcting the identified structural deficiencies and redesigning the intersections to improve visibility and vehicular traffic.
Summary of the Project Completed
The technical solution implemented by Envisquantis focused on paving and improving accessibility, while respecting the design base speed of 40 km/h.
- Pavement Structure: For the main road, a structure was defined consisting of a bituminous concrete wearing course (4 cm) and a dense bituminous mixture leveling course (6 cm), laid on base and sub-base layers of coarse-grained crushed aggregate (12 cm each).
- Sidewalks and Urban Planning: In areas with building walls, the construction of concrete paver sidewalks was planned, installed on a sand cushion and granular base layers.
- Universal Accessibility: To ensure continuity and easy access, the project included lowering the sidewalks at all residential entrances, both for cars and pedestrians.
- Service Roads: Unpaved service roads were integrated into the project, receiving a bituminous concrete wearing course (5 cm) and a crushed aggregate base (20 cm) after the treatment of the respective roadbeds.
- Technical Organization: The execution project was structured in detailed drawings, including layout plans, longitudinal profiles, and typical cross-sectional profiles.
