Introduction

This article presents the project plan for the “CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS IN PAÇO DOS NEGROS – GENERAL HUMBERTO DELGADO STREET BETWEEN THE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY ZONE AND CABEÇO STREET AND ON SCHOOL STREET BETWEEN GENERAL HUMBERTO DELGADO STREET AND MOINHO DE VENTO STREET”.

The project was developed based on cartography obtained through a local topographic survey, connected to the country’s geodetic network.

Context and Need

The intervention arose from the need to improve pedestrian circulation and vehicle access on those roads. The main objective focused on creating safe and fluid traffic conditions, with prior assessments of the state of the streets being carried out, especially regarding the conservation of the existing base and the structural and operational conditions of the installed cross drainage systems.

Summary of the Project Completed

The solution adopted consisted of constructing sidewalks and service roads, given that the boundary curbs were already in place. The project included the following technical components:

• Paving: For sidewalks and service areas, the application of brick-colored concrete pavers, laid on a sand-cement mix base, was recommended. For unpaved service areas, a base layer of crushed aggregate with extensive granulometry was also planned.
• Drainage: The extension of the aqueducts in the sidewalk areas was designed, as well as the construction of new receiving inlets and backfill.
• Accessibility: Accessibility was ensured through the lowering of the curb in several strategic locations.
• Retaining Structures: The project included the development of specific written elements for retaining walls.

The final execution project was structured in several written and drawn documents, including site plans, typical longitudinal and transverse profiles.
