Project for the construction of the Tabuaço School Center.
Municipality of Tabuaço

Introduction
This article details the execution project for the Tabuaço Primary School Center, developed for the Municipality of Tabuaço. This intervention focuses on creating a modern and functional infrastructure, designed to accommodate, at a later stage, approximately 230 primary school students.
Context and Need
The proposal arises as a direct response to the reorganization of the municipal education network, which foresees the closure of several elementary school units. The need for intervention is based on the urgency of creating superior conditions for the learning process, centralizing resources in a building capable of meeting the new school programs and ensuring that students benefit from adequate and safe facilities.

Summary of the Project Completed
The project consisted of an independent expansion of the existing building, through a new construction developed on a single floor, with the following technical and programmatic characteristics:
- Spatial Organization: The structure is organized into three volumes with distinct functions, linked to the original building by a covered courtyard that offers protection against adverse weather conditions.
- Internal Features: The program includes the creation of a 100-seat cafeteria with a support kitchen, a library/study and reading room, a gym with changing rooms, and sanitary facilities sized for students, staff, and people with reduced mobility.
- Accessibility and Circulation: All differences in levels are overcome via ramps. Circulation areas were designed to ensure natural lighting and ventilation, with direct connections between internal spaces and the school grounds.
- Exterior Arrangements: The intervention included the treatment of leisure areas with compacted gravel paving, the application of recycled rubber synthetic flooring in the playground area, and the planting of Liquidambar Styraciflua specimens to create shaded areas.
- Technical Specifications: The project included the use of glazing with adjustable louvers for impact protection and the installation of technical and storage areas with direct access to the outside, facilitating service logistics.
The project was designed for a nine-month execution period, totaling a gross construction area of 759.25 m2 and a landscaped area of 1094.96 m2.
